YouTube Disco Y'all

I may be kind of late in posting this but hey...better late than never.

What's cooking in the YouTube kitchen? YouTube Disco - a music discovery project where users can create a playlist of tracks from the YouTube archive. So, one starts off by keying in an artist's name (in my case, t'was Weezer). It then generates a whole list of Weezer power-pop songs. There's also a tab of "Similar Artists" which then you can include in your very own playlist. Mix and match 'em and you're all set for your disco at work or at home.

Ad Opportunities in Google Maps

Google just got awarded a patent not too long ago - “Claiming Real Estate in Panoramic or 3D Mapping Environments for Advertising”.

This describes Google's plans to identify posters, billboards and other advertising space on its online mapping applications and give advertisers the chance to replace these images with more up-to-date adverts. Talk about Digital Out-of-Home!

For us here in Malaysia, may take a while for us to grab this chance. But until we get our Street View up and running, I guess we can watch and learn how brands from around the world utilise this platform.
